Child care expenses are one of Canada's most valuable deductions for working families. CRA allows you to deduct amounts paid for daycare, after-school programs, day camps, overnight camps (limited), nannies, and boarding schools. The deduction is typically claimed by the lower-income spouse and is limited to the lesser of your actual eligible expenses, two-thirds of your earned income, or the per-child annual limit set by CRA. For 2026, the limit is $11,000 per child under 7, $5,000 per child aged 7 to 16, and $11,000 for a child with a disability. This calculator takes your eligible expenses, children's ages, and family income and determines the maximum deductible amount and the tax savings you can expect. Keep all receipts; CRA requires the provider's SIN or business number.
