Most Canadians who file electronically using NETFILE-certified software and have direct deposit set up with CRA receive their tax refund within 2 weeks of filing. Paper filers typically wait 8 weeks for processing. To get the fastest refund, file your return as soon as you receive all your tax slips (T4, T5, T3, RRSP receipts, etc), use NETFILE-approved software, and make sure direct deposit is set up in CRA My Account. After filing, you can check your refund status by logging into CRA My Account or calling the CRA Tax Information Phone Service. If your return is selected for review or if you owe back taxes from prior years, your refund may be delayed or applied to outstanding balances.
