The Canada Revenue Agency issues GST/HST credit payments four times per year: in January, April, July, and October. The 2026 GST/HST credit payment dates are January 5, 2026, April 4, 2026, July 4, 2026, and October 3, 2026. You do not need to apply for the GST/HST credit - CRA automatically determines your eligibility when you file your annual tax return. To qualify, you must be a Canadian resident for income tax purposes, at least 19 years old (with some exceptions for younger parents and married individuals), and have a net family income below the threshold for your situation. Payments are issued via direct deposit if set up, or by mailed cheque otherwise.
